WHAT'S THE CHALLENGE?

mediaIamge

Fixed lens cameras constantly cover narrow fields of view with great detail, but don’t take in the whole scene.

Single-sensor fisheye cameras provide panoramic views at affordable prices, but are limited in the ability to get more detail at greater distances.

Traditional multi-sensor panoramic cameras cover a wide field of view, but at the back end (VMS), users need to manually arrange the images from different sensors in order to see a panorama. The overall user experience then suffers from overlaps that duplicate images, gaps where coverage is missing, and tilted imaging that looks unrealistic to the human eye.

SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS

Is it possible to cover a wide area with just one camera? Hikvision always has a positive response, with its panoramic cameras powered by the Seamless Image Stitching technology and PTZ cameras that feature pan, tile and zoom capabilities and smart functions such as auto tracking.

Seamless Image Stitching

Image stitching or photo stitching is the process of combining multiple photographic images with overlapping fields of view to produce a segmented high-resolution panoramic image. Commonly performed with software, most approaches to image stitching require nearly exact overlaps between images and identical exposures to produce seamless results.

Hikvision employed front-end image stitching technology in its unique, all-in-one PanoVu Series Cameras to deliver 180- and 360-degree panoramas without using any additional servers. The rendered panorama has virtually no visible edges between its stitched images while the brightness and white balance are perfectly blended for a great user experience. So no graphical flaws hinder detailed imaging in the video.

Seamless image stitching is also the prerequisite for full pan, tilt and zoom functions across entire fields of view. Embedded in the PanoVu Series Cameras, seamless image stitching is used in a wide range of scenarios such as airports, harbors, transit stations, parking lots, stadiums and squares, where coverage of a 180° or 360° field of view is needed.

PTZ

A pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera works by moving the camera in different directions to get a whole picture of the surveillance area and zooming in for further detail of security events. The pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities make it possible to monitor large areas with a single camera while getting great detail at the same time.

Hikvision offers a wide selection of PTZ cameras for different application scenarios: high-end DF series network PTZ, AF series Turbo HD PTZ, PTZ positioning cameras, traffic PTZ, and more. These PTZ cameras work well as a standalone solution and integrated with other cameras. With Hikvision’s PTZ cameras, you can rapidly respond to security events and leave no blind spot unnoticed.
