Hikvision unveils upgraded access points, offering optimal networking solutions for small and micro businesses
October 07, 2024 - Hikvision has launched upgraded wireless access points designed to significantly reduce costs and simplify network management for small and micro-sized enterprises. The enhanced access points now feature centralized cloud management via the Hik-Partner Pro (HPP) mobile app. This greatly simplifies networking, enabling faster configuration, and seamless maintenance.
"We deeply understand the core networking needs of our small and micro clients," says Randy Qian, Director of Networking Products at Hikvision. "Our upgraded wireless access points provide an easy-to-use, efficient solution that enables small and micro businesses to reduce expenses while simplifying network setup, management, and troubleshooting—without additional hardware or specialized IT staff. Our customers can focus on what really matters: growing their business with confidence in a reliable network."
Small businesses, like micro-enterprises and retail shops, often require network solutions that are simple, and which minimize equipment and labor costs. A new hostel, for example, may seek compatible routers and access points from different brands to stay within budget. A growing company, meanwhile, may want to expand its Wi-Fi coverage without the need to replace existing equipment. Similarly, in a Small Office Home Office (SOHO) setting, such as a villa, basic wireless network coverage may suffice without the complexities of advanced features that require professional maintenance.
In cases such as these, Hikvision's upgraded access points reduce costs during setup and with ongoing maintenance. The new access points are compatible with existing routers, which enables businesses to keep their current devices when building or expanding networks. Further savings come from Hikvision's free cloud services which eliminate the need for purchasing extra hardware access controllers and their associated license fees. The new HPP mobile app, meanwhile, simplifies network setup, deployment, maintenance, and expansion—saving costs for professional engineers.
The upgraded wireless access points eliminate the need for access controllers. Installers can set up the access points quickly and easily in just three steps. First, plug in the access points and connect to the Wi-Fi signal emitted by any access points. Next, use the HPP app to activate the access points in batches. Setting up a new site and delivering it to the customer is then straightforward. Network expansion is also more flexible—again, managed through a mobile phone. This streamlined process lowers entry barriers for installers, allowing them to deliver the solution swiftly and efficiently, providing enhanced convenience for both installers and users.
The app offers a visualized topology for installers. This enables them to see how networks are connected, monitor network health, and troubleshoot issues from anywhere, anytime. For instance, if an access point goes offline, its status will be displayed as "offline" on the app. Installers can remotely reboot the access point and address issues swiftly without needing on-site visits.
The upgraded access points now support captive portal setup, guest Wi-Fi isolation, and one-click network optimization tailored to meet specific customer needs.
Users can easily set up captive portals, customizing access types, authentication methods, and key variables such as login duration and customer type—ideal for hospitality businesses. The portal page design can also be personalized to create a welcoming guest experience. Users can also quickly isolate guest Wi-Fi from internal networks with a single click, ensuring secure external access while protecting internal VLANs. Additionally, one-click network optimization minimizes interference and eliminates signal blind spots for optimal performance.
Wi-Fi 6 technology and intelligent roaming also facilitate a seamless Wi-Fi experience, ensuring fast and stable connectivity anytime, anywhere.
Hikvision's access points—along with switches, routers, and other networking products—can be seamlessly integrated with the rest of a customer's security system to create a unified infrastructure. This means that small businesses can create a single system to support both their network and security needs. This simplifies the management process and reduces overall hardware and maintenance costs.
Besides, these cloud-managed access points use a token-based authentication process to ensure that only authorized individuals can access management features. Cloud services, including captive portal services, utilize stringent encryption and authentication mechanisms to protect against unauthorized access and attacks, thereby ensuring the network security of our users.
