Canal Walk Shopping Centre, the largest mall in Cape Town, recently took a step forward in innovative visual communication and advertising revenue boosting. The mall collaborated with Eyecom, a renowned local visual communication solution provider, to install a naked-eye 3D LED cube in its central hall, the busiest area of the shopping center.

The installation features a massive 3D LED cube with four sides, each measuring 6.08 m by 3.04 m, totaling 73.93 m². Constructed from 1,444 units of P4 LED modules, the cube is a striking addition to the mall’s bustling central hall. The use of LED modules, rather than traditional LED panels, proved to be a smart choice. LED modules are smaller, customizable units that can be easily combined to create flexible lighting solutions. Their modularity allows for easy replacement of any faulty components, and their lightweight design made the installation process quicker and more efficient. These modules also offer excellent value for money and are ideal for creative installations like this one.

Canal Walk has partnered with a local advertising company to maximize the commercial potential of the LED cube. Together, they are using the screen to display ads for both local and international brands, generating significant revenue and enhancing the mall’s commercial value. The cube has quickly become a must-see feature, not just for its visual appeal but also for its ability to create memorable shopping experiences.
